Boards

Kanban-style spaces that move work from an open question to something decided. A board is the same project as the canvas, seen at a different stage.

Columns

Boards start with four columns — open question, researching, decided, done — and you can rename or add to them. The default set reflects how research-led work actually moves, rather than a software sprint.

Cards keep their research

A card is not a title with a due date. It carries the blocks behind it, so opening a card in 'decided' shows the findings that produced the decision and the sources under those findings.

This is the point of boards here. A decision you cannot trace is one you will re-litigate in three weeks.

Two views, one project

Moving a card does not detach it from the canvas. The board and the canvas are views of the same material: arrange spatially when you are thinking, move through columns when you are deciding.
